TERMITE INSPECTIONS
GARCHA PEST CONTROL
A Termite inspection is the first step in termite management. Initial and ongoing inspections ensure your home is protected against
termite damage. Leaving termites unchecked costs homeowners for extensive treatments and repairs.
As Recommended by the Australian Standard AS 3660, Termite inspections should be conducted annually even though preventative
measures are in place. Annual Checks provide the oppurtunity for technichians to eradicate infestations before they become a problem.

TERMITE BARRIERS
GARCHA PEST CONTROL
BARRIER SYSTEMS
Termite Barriers, Reticulation Systems, Refills and monitoring stations. There is a range termite prevention methods available. These include:
Monitoring Stations
Monitoring Stations provide Home owners with an early warning oftermite activity. In Ground monitoring stations are set up around the
perimeter of the property. They are filled with untreated timber that acts as attracted. When installed correctly and monitored by specialist they are an effective way to prevent termite invasions. If termite activity is detected, Baiting is set up to eradicate the nest before they cause termite inspections should be conducted.
Reticulation Systems
Reticulation systems are underground piping systems setup around the house. The type of reticulation system installed and the type of chemical used will influence How often they need to be refilled.
Expect Chemical refills to be needed every three to eight years.
Chemical Barriers
Repellent and Non-repellent are 2 types of chemicals used for chemeical
barriers.
Repellent Chemical Barrier are cheaper and highly effective but if the
termites find a gap, they can infest your home.
Non-repellent Chemical barrier last up to 8 years and ensure the colony
is infected and eliminated.
Physical Barriers
Physical Barriers are a great option when it comes to new properties and
renovations.
A correctly Installed physical barrier, working in conjuction with the
construction elements, is designed to prevent concealed termite entry
into the home. That is, to get around a physical barrier the termites have
to make themselves visible.
Physical barriers we use and recommend include:
. HomeGuard
. Term Seal
. JH Barrier
. Greenzone Barrier

TERMITE DUSTING
GARCHA TERMITE BARRIER
This method involves dust toxicants being blown gently through infested termite workings. The dust sticks to damp termite bodies but does not kill immediately.
The termite dust we use is slow acting which allows enough time for the workers to transport the dust to the queen and colony.
It is passed on to other termites during normal feeding and grooming activities. An interesting fact about termites is that they are cannibals. So, when one infected termite dies, others will eat it and ingest the poison.
At GTB we generally use dusting as a method of reducing termite numbers in an infested building prior to the application of a protective
chemical application.

TERMITE FOAMING
GARCHA TERMITE BARRIER
Termite Foam is applied to the areas of termite activities coating the termites and surface of feeding sites. Once the foam has dissipated the insecticide remains and will be picked up by any termites in area. Foams can be useful when treating termite activity in damp areas where the dust cannot be used.

TERMITE TREATMENTS AND PREVENTION OPTIONS
GARCHA TERMITE BARRIER
The two main termite management strategies to have termite management services carried out is either to create a barrier between the termite and the building to be protected or to eradicate the termite colony, If the structure is invaded by termites, the attaching colony must be eliminated. Termite barriers are the main defence against an infestation of these troublesome pests. There are various types of barriers. Out of the most effective preventative treatment is chemical termite barrier, A termite chemical barrier is a chemically treated zone that surrounds the perimeter of a building or structure. Chemical termite barriers are a great preventative solution for homes and buildings that have been built without a physical barrier on place.
Due to changes in building standards, almost all new homes are built with physical barriers. These are specially treated plastic type sheeting that is placed underneath or around the edges of the concrete slab. They are a great long term preventative measure as they have a life expectancy of up to 50 years. However, for a lot of homes built prior to changes in the building code, a Chemical barrier allows to protect up to 8 years. In comparison whilst physical barriers stop the termites from entering the property, if they are not used in conjunction with a termiticide such as termidor, they don't have the added benefit of affecting the nest with the transfer of chemicals to other termites. Both when used in conjunction offer the most effective protection against termites.
